Корпоративная библиотека

Науч. и техн. б-ки, 2018, № 6 38 The author also attempts to apply Yury Stoyarov’s four-component library model to the corporate library phenomenon. She speculates on whether the library core features are applicable to a corporate library – namely, collection purpose, document array orderliness, librarian supply. The differences between the traditional concept of a library and a library as a live selforganizing system are revealed. The need to include corporate libraries into the library science subject scope and therefore to expand social influence of librarians is emphasized. Keywords: corporate libraries, special libraries, sci-tech libraries, library four-component model, library science. The Petersburg city planning laboratory is engaged in scientific and project development of city, namely territorial planning and transport and urban planning. The founder of LabGrad is M. Petrovich, whose books from personal collection formed the core of the corporate library. There are 1 500 professional publications – monographs, scientific papers and conference materials, manuals, reference and cartographic publications, etc. In 2014 an attempt was made to organize the collection by a professional bibliographer. There was developed own system of classification (sections), inside of which – the arrangement by the author names. One can find a lot of materials on corporate libraries. Two studies, carried out in 2015, are of interest: (1) by the Mann, Ivanov and Ferber (MIF) publishing house, and (2) by the MuVok company. Both companies are content aggregators for electronic corporate libraries. Besides, the Publishing House MIF created a "League of Reading Companies", among which members of MTS, Kaspersky Lab, Google and Yandex, ABBYY, Sberbank, Rosatom and many others. Website of league posted articles on the experience of creating corporate libraries. One can see that the term "corporate library" is actively used in professional publications. Many researchers (e.g., D. Matarazzo, E. Keyes, C. Simon) view these libraries as a kind of special libraries, along with medical, museum and others. As Yu. Stolyarov wrote, there are four elements of library as a system: the collection, the readership, the library staff and technical base. This concept is quite applicable to the corporate library. We propose the following definition: corporate libraries are a kind of special libraries created for the development of professional competencies of employees of an organization, company, firm and satisfaction of information needs. A corporate library can be organized both in the form of a systematically documented fund in a certain way, the composition and thematic focus of which is determined by the profile of the organization's activities, and in the form of an independent subdivision.
